Summer Loving

The sun is starting to disappear for another year, but my summer playlist is keeping my spirits up! My brother, Joe and I were lucky enough to grow up with the coolest parents, whose taste in music varied from Motown classics to current hits. From Gloria Estefan to Beyonce. So I thought I'd change the blog up by sharing some of my favourite summer songs...

Newbies:
The song that was my kind of introduction to summer was 'Too Good'. The perfect mix of Drake and Rihanna's voice is what I imagine sipping a cold malibu and lemonade would sound like, the best way to start summer!
My newest favourite song, which actually inspired me to write this article, is JP Cooper's (left) cover of Jonas Blue's 'Perfect Strangers'. This acoustic version has such an authentic, summery feel with it's cool bongo beat.
Another new love of mine is Justin Bieber. About 2 months ago I would have been disappointed with myself for admitting that, but I have come to accept my love for his music! I really like that feel good vibe his songs have, and the 'Love Yourself' music video is incredible! (I'm in the midst of writing a play - or trying - and this video was very inspirational with the kind of physical theatre I want to include in my play, maybe when I finish it, I can write an article about it...)
Ash and I love the film 'Friends with Benefits', and it's soundtrack matches the lovely, summery genre. Specifically Janelle Monae's 'Tightrope'. This song is the appitemy of summer, it's catchy rhythm just automatically makes me want to dance! Another magic song from this soundtrack is Ray Quinn feat. Ultra Love's remix of 'New York, New York'. Although I adore Frank Sinatra, this funky remix just adds a summer feel.
And my final newest music fling is Charlie Puth and Selena's 'We Don't Talk Anymore'. My music taste has changed quite a lot this summer, last year I was listening to the likes of Alt J and Arctic Monkeys; it's not that I've gone off this style, I just love dancing to fun, happy beats, and these are a bit too cool for skool when I just want to enjoy a happy tune in the sun.

Oldies:
A few classics I have and always will love are, of course, Beyonce and Amy Winehouse. Two songs I have fallen back in love with this Summer, especially when visiting St Ives in July, are 'Get Me Bodied' and 'I Heard Love is Blind'. These women are my favourite creators, their music just goes above and beyond.
Last December, all I listened to was Wham and Frozen. And this summer, I bought back my love of Wham, specifically their ultimate sunny tune, Club Tropicana! Everyone's favourite holiday anthem.
Walk the Moon are mine and Ash's favourite band, for his 21st we saw them in Liverpool. For us, they're music is the kind that never gets old.
And now, the kind my Mum and I would dance around the living room to are Gloria Estefan, "1 2 3 4 Come On Baby Say You Love Me" If you want the ultimate feel good, dance till you drop, song, this is it! Let me know if you love it just as much as we do!

Enjoy the last few days of summer, and I hope you find some new summer loves!
