I've said it before, I'll say it again... Reading is the best. This isn't a preachy kind of post where I nag at you to be informed and widen your horizons, it's just a simple little blog in honor of my favourite hobby- I simply love to read.
I often have a book hanging around in my bag, so when I'm sat in a coffee shop wanting to take an instagram worthy picture (as seen above) I'll whip out my book for a quick escape into a weird and wonderful story. But seriously, there is nothing better than sitting in bed with a hot cup of tea and a good ole' book, am I right? I'm currently exploring Lucy's trip to Florence in E.M Forster's 'A Room with a View' - not even half way through yet, so I can't give my full opinion, but so far so good!
My ultimate, all time number 1 however is Virginia Andrews' 'Flowers in the Attic.' This twisted, incestual love story is a heart breaker. Andrews' beautifully crafted masterpiece takes the reader on a journey, talk about pulling at the heart strings. I don't want to give it away, and this isn't a book review, but I can't tell you how magical this story is - and not the Harry Potter spell type magic - I'm talking about jaw dropping, I can't stop reading type magic. You know, that's when an author has won it for me, when I just can't put the book down!
A recent read that had me hooked was Emma Donohue's 'Room', oh my golly gosh! When I started the first page, I thought "shit" - I was a initially put off by the fact that the story is told by the little boy, but after getting over the fittingly illiterate wording, I totally bought in to his world.

Another book, that is about to be released as a film, is Paula Hawkin's 'Girl on the Train.' (Which is conveniently captured in the photo above). This, I wouldn't go as far to say thriller, but thrilling story rudely interrupted my holiday last year... rather than spending all my time splashing in the sea, I was laying on the beach with this book in my hand, needing to find out what happened next! My only worry is that the film won't live up to the high standard of the book - always a hard task to achieve.
Reading is a refreshing way to forget about myself for a while, and dive into the troubles and discoveries of another's (fictional) life. It quite literally feeds my imagination.
